Gum Arabic is the binder for Pearl Ex, watercolours and gouaches to help keep diluted watercolours/gouaches from sinking below absorbent surfaces.
Gum Arabic produces a crisp appearance to watercolour edges. It increases transparency and gloss and controls spread when over-painting wet on wet.
